Milk and Cookies welcomes stories of all kinds, whether they are true or fiction, happy or sad, funny or terrifying. Stories can be told or read, although we think proper storytelling is great and therefore encourage it wherever possible! Each evening will feature a few invited storytellers, but anyone can put their name down to tell a story on the night. We want to hear you! Don't be shy, and don't worry if you've never done it before. Of course, there is no requirement to speak - anyone can come to be part of the audience.
To inspire creativity, our events will sometimes have a theme - true life, tales from the crypt, swashbucklers, urban legends, bedtime stories, elephant dreams - which will be announced well in advance.
We ask that where possible, people stay within a one story or ~15 minute time limit, to allow as many people as possible the chance to speak. Milk and Cookies is not a poetry reading, though if your story comes in the form of a poem feel free to tell it! We do not advocate censorship at Milk and Cookies and are open to stories of all kinds. However, should there be children in the audience, we ask that speakers show discretion and to please refrain from material of a very violent or adult nature. Thank you.
We look forward to hearing your stories!
